Júnior Maceió
Junior Maceió is a Brazilian saxophonist and composer with a solid career spanning more than 30 years. He began his musical journey in 1988, at the age of 11, in the Philharmonic Orchestra “Associação Musical Independente” in Santa Luzia do Norte, a city in the interior of Alagoas, under the guidance of Maestro Euclides Moreira. Over the years, Junior Maceió has distinguished himself both as an instrumentalist and composer, gaining prominence on the national and international music scene.
With an eclectic musical style, he is influenced by Brazilian rhythms and other international genres, such as samba, funk, soul, and groove. In 2015, he released his first solo album, incorporating his experience on the saxophone and the fusion of traditional Brazilian rhythms with typical instruments such as the pandeiro, triangle, and surdo virado. This work represented the culmination of his career to date, blending his refined saxophone technique with the richness of Brazilian popular music. Since 2018, Junior Maceió has been living in Lisbon, Portugal, where he has been delving even deeper into the world of jazz.
In 2023, he completed his Bachelor's degree in Music, specializing in Jazz, at the Lisbon School of Music. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Music with a focus on Jazz Performance at the same institution. His academic journey in Portugal demonstrates his ongoing commitment to musical evolution. In addition to his solo career, he is a member of the Hot Club de Lisboa Jazz Orchestra and performs regularly with his quartet, participating in various jazz clubs and festivals. He is preparing to release his second album in 2026, promising to explore new sounds and continue his trajectory of fusion styles. Junior Maceió is undoubtedly a prominent figure on the Brazilian and international music scene, with a career marked by innovation and a constant search for technical and expressive perfection on the saxophone.
